Stamford inventor Colin Furze, who has nearly 9 million followers on YouTube, hands out Summer Reading Challenge certificates to 121 children at Stamford Library
Inventor Colin Furze paid a visit to Stamford Library on Saturday to award certificates to children who took part in this Summer’s Reading Challenge.
Colin handed out 121 certificates to youngsters, who had read six books from the library over the Summer holidays.
Colin also brought his crisp-concealing lamp and a jet-engine to show the children, but the biggest reaction came when the toaster catapulted the toast across the room.
Library manager Lea Rickard said: “Library staff haven’t stopped smiling and we had lots of fun.
“We had more children than we have ever had to one of these events.
“Colin very generously gave up a lot of his time to make a lot of people very happy. He stayed on after the presentation for children to take photos with him and sign their certificates.
“His inventions are so well-designed and fun. He arrived and left in a very stately fashion in a moving armchair waving goodbye and looking very cool as he left the library.
“We owe him a huge thanks for making the afternoon so successful.
“The library staff would like to wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
