Bourne company Four Seasons Window Solutions boosts security at Horbling scout hut after reports of antisocial behaviour and vandalism
Community groups and businesses have stepped up to secure a scout hut which was targeted by vandals.
Leaders were devastated to find intruders had lit a bonfire and tried to break into a storage container at the site in Horbling earlier this month.
They appealed to the community for help to boost security measures and were delighted with the response.
Four Seasons Window Solutions fitted a new door free of charge on Tuesday this week.
Group scout leader Helen Robinson said: "Their support is absolutely amazing and we feel very humbled.
"The Scouting community is a charity which relies on volunteers so we don't have a lot of money.
"Everything we do is for the children so we were disappointed by the incident at new year, but on the back of that we have had some incredible support."
Bourne Lions Club has donated £100 towards security measures and Brown's Primary School in the village raised £100 from a non-uniform day.
Staff from Four Seasons Window Solutions, of Bourne, fitted the new door and have also pledged to raise money for a new fire door.
Company spokesman Nick Hawkridge said: "We are a small company but pride ourselves on doing work in the community, so we were more than happy to help in any way we could.
"Our fitter Chris Adkins really supports the Scouting ethos so he was happy to work for free.
"It was a cold morning but we battled through and appreciated the endless cups of tea.
"We now look forward to assisting Helen and the scout group further. Our next step is to assist them in replacing the very old fire exit door in their hut which we hope to complete in the coming months."
The scout hut in Sandygate Lane is home to beaver, cub and scout groups which attract children from the villages of Billingborough, Pointon, Folkingham and Threekingham.
Seventy children aged between five and 14 attend the groups. Some of the them went along this week to thank the workmen for their support.
