Contracts awarded by South Kesteven District Council to help disabled and vulnerable people live independently
The district council has approved contracts to ensure its properties have lifts and other adaptations to help disabled residents live independently.
Members of South Kesteven District Council’s cabinet approved a three-year contract worth £1.28 million for ‘aids and adaptations works’ to T&S Heating Ltd.
And it also granted Premier Mobility Ltd a £76,300 a year contract to install and maintain lifts.
All local authorities have a statutory duty to help disabled people live in their homes independently.
Aids and adaptations include the installation of wet rooms, over-bath showers, ramps and other items as recommended by occupational therapists.
At the cabinet meeting on Tuesday (August 18), council leader Coun Kelham Cooke (Con) said: “This is vitally important for a lot of our residents across the district.”
