Corby Glen Primary School installs trim trail thanks to Lottery grant

Corby Glen Primary School has installed a trim trail for its pupils.

PE co-ordinator Amanda Whadcock successfully secured funding for the trail from The Big Lottery Fund.

The official launch was attended by Councillor Bob Adams, leader of South Kesteven District Council, and Sam Ruddock, Paralympic athlete and Inspire+ ambassador, pictured with headteacher Julia Waites and pupils.

Mrs Waites said: “This is a fantastic new outdoor resource for our children – now all the children can enjoy using different parts of the trim trail during their break times.”

Year 2 children recently enjoyed exploring the new trail.

Pupil Amelia said: “It is really great – it is much more fun than the trim trail before.” Cameron said: “It’s good because I could hang off the monkey bars,” and Oliver said: “I completed the rolling log – I fell off twice but at last I made it.”

Coun Adams said: “It is great to see projects like this when they are complete. New play equipment for children is vital to encourage young people to be active and lead healthier lives.

“It was also great to see Sam Ruddock supporting the opening as inspirational Paralympians show children and adults what can be achieved with grit and determination, even in the face of physical adversity.”

Corby Glen is the first school to be given Awards for All funding as a direct result of local sports charity Inspire+ providing workshops to promote the funding opportunity to its member schools.
