New Trinity Road council housing in Stamford is ready for tenants
New council housing in Stamford is ready for tenants to move in.
Five bungalows have been built in Trinity Road to provide much-needed housing in the town.
The properties have been handed back to South Kesteven District Council by the developers, ready to be allocated to people on its housing register.
The development includes a one-bedroom bungalow, a three-bedroom property and three two-bedrooms properties.
Coun Robert Reid (Con), who is responsible for housing, said: “One of the key ambitions of the council's corporate strategy is to increase the supply of high quality, sustainable, social housing.
“The council is moving from traditional construction methods, which are typically less sustainable and take longer to construct, to modern methods which exceed industry standards for construction time, ensuring homes are delivered more quickly, with enhanced energy performance and to meet the lifestyle choices of the tenant.
“Our ongoing programme of house building will ultimately help prevent homelessness and overcrowding by providing some of the new homes that are so badly needed across the district."
Council leader Kelham Cooke (Con) added: “By building new homes ourselves, we can focus on particular needs such as accessible homes and help meet a growing demand for affordable housing."
