Rutland County Council's cabinet reshuffle makes processes 'more joined up'

There has been a slight reshuffle of Rutland County Council’s Conservative-controlled cabinet to make processes more “joined up”.

Following an announcement at a full council meeting on Monday, September 14, responsibility for environmental services has been transferred from Coun Gordon Brown (Con) to Coun Lucy Stephenson (Con).

Responsibility for property services has also been transferred from Coun Brown to Coun Oliver Hemsley (Con).

Coun Hemsley, leader of Rutland County Council and chair of the cabinet, said: “The changes we have made to cabinet roles are important because they will give us the opportunity to align planning and decision making where we have services with considerable overlaps.

“For example, the change to Coun Stephenson’s portfolio means that environmental services will now be overseen by the same cabinet member with responsibility for highways and public transport, where there are clear synergies.

“Similarly, locating property services within the same portfolio as economic development means that we can be more joined up in our long-term plans for economic growth.”

The full agenda and reports from the full council meeting can be viewed online at: www.rutland.gov.uk/meetings . Minutes from the meeting will be published online within seven days of the meeting date.
