Don't Lose Hope in Bourne shows off its premises to supporters
Work to open a new well-being centre with affordable mental health services has been completed.
Don't Lose Hope was due to host an invitation-only event last night to showcase its services at the former NatWest premises in North Street, Bourne.
Professional counsellors have been working behind the scenes for almost two years to bridge the gap in support for those suffering with mental health problems and their families.
Counsellor Nicola Brister came up with the idea after witnessing first-hand a lack of “joined up services” in the town through her work in local schools.
Last night the team opened their doors for supporters to meet the counsellors, volunteers and supporters.
Seven qualified counsellors will work from the centre on weekdays, offering around 60 hours of therapy sessions.
A volunteer-run café will be open in the same premises for six days a week to boost income and provide a base for an informal listening service.
The centre is expected to open for clients next week.
