Couple to open glamping pods at Rutland Rural Retreats
A retreat offering pet-friendly getaways in the countryside will soon be open for business.
Clare Farmer and her partner Kirsty Brooks have been preparing a four-acre retreat at Belton in Rutland ready for its opening on Friday next week (July 1).
Their Rutland Rural Retreats site at Brook Farm off Littleworth Lane offers two glamping pods, each with underfloor heating, a private garden and an outdoor seating area for drinks or dining.
They hope to keep the experience for guests as secluded as possible and so have just two pods at the moment.
The process of getting everything up and running has taken the couple three years due to planning complications, and once the application was granted they have spent the past year on fixtures and decorations for the pods.
Clare said: “At the moment we are constantly running around to make sure everything is in order before the opening.
“We want to provide people with the opportunity to get away from everything and just be surrounded by all the rolling hills.”
Clare was previously in a corporate job and, recalling how stressful this can be, is aiming to attract people in a similar line of work to come along and have space to unwind.
With the retreat being pet-friendly, the couple also hope more people are able to make use of it.
Kirsty and Clare have pet dogs themselves and say that this has limited their glamping experience because not many places offer a space that allows people to bring their four-legged friends.
“We have had a lot of positive feedback on social media because we are dog-friendly and are providing a chance for people to get away with their pets,” Clare said.
The couple also have two rescue horses, which are kept on land next to the retreat.
