Uppingham Community College pupil Eva Finnemore builds on her success on CBBC show Got What It Takes by releasing her debut single 501

Teen singing sensation Eva Finnemore has taken the next step on her road to stardom by releasing her debut single.

The 13-year-old already has a string of successes under her belt, having appeared on CBBC talent show Got What It Takes and making countless appearances at festivals and open mic nights.

But the release of her debt single 501 is a huge step forward for the schoolgirl who was thrilled to notch up more than 2,000 streams in the first week.

She wrote the song herself at the age of 10.

On a day out with her mum Eva left her phone at home and returned to 501 text messages from her friends.

Proud mum Mel said: "The song is about her primary school friends. She has performed it loads at festivals and it was the song she was going to perform if she made it to the final of Got What It Takes.

"Her fans love it and wanted her to perform it."

Eva's friends and followers now look out for the number 501 wherever they go and often share pictures of it to Eva's social media.

The song was recorded at The Lodge Studio in Northampton and is available to download from music platforms Spotify, Apple and Amazon.

Eva threw herself into the recording process and made sure she was involved every step of the way.

She already plays seven instruments but was given the opportunity to play the omnichord which features on the final cut.

Mel said: "It was such a great experience for her and a dream come true."

Eva, a pupil at Uppingham Community College, would eventually like to release an album of her own material and has a long term ambition to perform at Glastonbury.

She also wants to use her profile to encourage more young people to take up music, believing it's a great way to relax and express yourself.

The family are hosting a launch party at Uppingham Town Hall to celebrate Eva's successes and thank the Uppingham community for their support.

It will take place on Saturday, March 2 from 6-9pm and includes support from her favourite band The Tin Pigeons who will perform on the night.

Eva also hopes some of her competitors from the CBBC show will join her on the night.
