Drinkers who broke social distancing rules turned away from J D Wetherspoon pub, The Stamford Post, on A-level results day
People have expressed concerns after a large crowd broke social distancing rules to gather outside of a J D Wetherspoon pub.
A queue of drinkers celebrating A-level results day were turned away from The Stamford Post last night (Thursday, August 13) after the pub reached its full capacity.
Lincolnshire Police was informed about the group of people, who were not observing social distancing rules, but they did not attend as the landlord was reportedly dealing with the issue.
Eddie Gershon, spokesman for Wetherspoon, said: “The Stamford Post, a very popular and busy pub, experienced a very busy evening yesterday evening.
“The pub reached capacity and had to stop admitting customers. As a result, the queue outside became long and social distancing was not being observed.
“At this point, the pub manager disbanded the queue and prohibited any waiting for entry, allowing the pub to reduce trade.
“The customers breaching the social distancing rules, outside and inside the pub, were managed by staff."
He added that those who were not adhering to the rules inside the pub were asked to leave and refused service.
