The Deepings Lions host virtual duck race in aid of Sense charity in Market Deeping
The Deepings Lions held their first ever virtual duck race on Sunday, September 6.
The event, broadcast live on Facebook, was co-hosted by DJs Funky Fossil, also known as Mike Newell of Spectrum Events, and Lionel Vinyl - Jon Dearden, DSL Productions.
They were ably assisted by the broadcasters Ben Dearden, and Jacob Smith and also the duck impersonator, Chloe Hogg.
Deepings Lions president, Steve Holt said: “I was thrilled that we received so much support from our duck sponsors and I would like to give a very special thank you to all those who helped to make the event so successful”.
The winners of the race who received cash prizes were: Lawrence Dickinson (£100), Judith Hughes (£50) and Karen Pettit (£25).
Brenda Gottelier won £20 and was awarded an engraved trophy after her entry ‘Lucky’ won the 2020 giant duck naming competition. The event raised more than £1,600 for the charity Sense.
Carl Williams, community fundraising manager for Sense said: “We really appreciate all the hard work done by The Deepings Lions Club in very challenging times.
“The fantastic amount raised from the virtual duck race will be put to good use by our family centre in Market Deeping including the purchase of sensory story packs for children with complex difficulties living at home.”
