War on plastic packaging steps up a gear as Oundle eco shop expands its opening hours

A pop-up shop with a focus on the environment has become so popular with customers it will now open three times a week.

Refill Revolution had been opening fortnightly at Oundle Wharf but owners decided to increase their trading hours last week.

The shop will now open on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9am until 4pm.

It allows shoppers to fill their own containers with dried foods, spices, tea, coffee, hair and body wash and household cleaning liquids.

The aim is to cut down on unnecessary packaging.

The shop also sells bamboo cutlery and toothbrushes, cotton bags, washable nappies, sanitary items, shampoo and shave bars, chewable dental tabs and washing up items made from coconut husk.

A spokesman said: "We are excited about this next step which will make it much easier for customers to reduce single use packaging with regular refills and to stock up on some of our lovely reusable household products.

"We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly."

A wellness centre will open alongside the business next month.
