Lakeside's Hereward Practice in Bourne to switch from EConsult to Doctrin online platform

A GP surgery is replacing its online consultation platform.

The Hereward Practice in Bourne, part of the Lakeside group, is swapping its EConsult system for a Swedish one called Doctrin.

Patients using Doctrin can bypass phoning or visiting the surgery. Instead, they submit symptoms using a mobile or tablet.

The system is due to launch at The Hereward Practice in Exeter Street on March 9.

GP partner Dr Ian Wheatley said: "There are a range of benefits to our patients from using this system and it has been carefully designed to be easy to use and navigate.

"Many patients will be keen to use Doctrin because it allows them to contact us at a time and place to suit them.

"I would like to reassure patients who are not able to use an online platform that we can be contacted by the usual methods. It just gives our patients added choice and flexibility."

Doctrin is used at several Lakeside practices, including Oundle, but not yet in Stamford.

Staff respond to Doctrin consultations during normal working hours and the system is not intended for urgent or emergency medical enquiries.
