Exotic Pet Refuge in Deeping St James gets new monkey enclosure
The Exotic Pet Refuge in Deeping St James has benefited from a rebuild of its monkey enclosure after the centre suffered storm damage earlier this year.
AVS Fencing of Peterborough undertook the repairs, due for completion this summer, and donated materials to the charity, which provides a home for 250 unwanted and abandoned exotic pets.
AVS also encouraged seven customers and suppliers to also join in and donate their products. The support came as the pet refuge also staged its first of six open days of the year on Easter Sunday, raising more than £11,000- a record for such a day.
Darren Mansfield from the Exotic Pet Refuge said: “Because the local companies are doing all the work for free we will be able to use all the money raised to look after the animals, our electric bill alone comes to over £2,000 a month.”
