Fallen trees block Lincolnshire roads as Storm Darragh hits the area




Police are urging people to take care on the roads as more than 100 calls have been made reporting fallen trees.

A Met Office yellow weather warning is in place until 6pm on December 8 with Storm Darragh causing disruption and damage due to strong winds.

Wind gusts of up to 56mph are forecast for the area throughout the night.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “We are urging people to take extra care this evening and overnight following several trees that have fallen into roads across the county today.

“Our Force Control Room has so far received around 100 calls, including at Jerusalem Road, Skellingthorpe, which will be closed for some time due to a large tree having fallen.”

Other fallen trees reported to police this evening have included those in roads in Market Deeping, Holbeach, Crowland, Pinchbeck, Old Leake and Welbourn.

In Rutland Teigh Road is currently closed between Edmondthorpe and Ashwell at Catmose Lodge Farm due to a fallen power line.

National Grid have been contacted but police say the road is likely to be closed for some time.
