The Voice Kids coach Jessie J selects Rutland teenager for the battle round
A singing sensation earned the backing of pop star Jessie J when she competed on The Voice Kids.
Cottesmore teenager Pheobie Key-Warburton appeared on the ITV show on Saturday to take part in a blind audition for the celebrity coaches.
She sang the Randy Newman song Feels Like Home and was kept waiting until the very last note before Jessie pressed her buzzer, granting Pheobie a place in the next round.
Pheobie said: "When I sing I think about family and how much they mean to me."
Jessie told her: "You have all the ingredients and I just have to show you how to put them all together to make it a perfect cake."
The 13-year-old was one of only 60 children to take part in the blind auditions after 10,000 singers applied.
Her mum Leanne said: "Singing has always been her passion but she's never had lessons and usually just sings in her bedroom.
"Pheobie is the eldest of five siblings. Her brother Archie is disabled and she spends a lot of time singing to him.
"She felt that if she can make him smile and bring him that joy, she can do anything.
"You only get one life so you've got to give everything a go."
Pheobie watched the episode at home on Saturday night with mum Leanne, dad Steve and siblings Gracie, 11, Archie, Teddie, five, and two-year-old Beaux.
The family also ordered her a special cake to mark the start of the series.
episodeiode was screened to Pheobie's classmates at Catmose College in Oakham on Wednesday where Pheobie has just performed as Sister Mary Roberts in a production of Sister Act.
Leanne said: "I can't put into words how proud we are.
"Even though we knew the outcome, we were nervous watching, but it was lovely to see how all the videos came together."
The episode is still available to watch on the ITV Hub.
Pheobie will next appear on screen on Saturday, July 13 when she will compete against two of Jessie J's other contestants for a place in the semi final.
The overall winner of the show gets a £30,000 bursary towards their music education and a family holiday to Florida.
