Star Wars characters to appear in Oakham

A glitz and glam themed summer ball is taking place at Oakham Castle to support children with cancer.

Whissendine couple Katherine and Jamie Staples are hosting their next event for The Harley Staples Cancer Trust on Friday, July 12.

Tickets cost £40 and include prosecco on arrival, a meal, entertainment by The Smarties and a disco.

Guests can also have their photo taken with a selection of Star Wars characters.

Money raised will help to provide free holidays for young people with cancer and their families or parents who have lost a child to cancer.

The charity was set up in memory of the couple's nine-year-old son Harley who lost his battle with leukaemia in 2009.

His parents received an award from the prime minister last year for their charity work.
