Electric vehicle charging point installed at Casterton College Rutland




A school has become one of the first in the area to install a charging point for electric vehicles.

Casterton College Rutland teamed up with Alfa Power to install the charger which is available for the public to use.

College principal Carl Smith said: "It’s a great scheme."

He added: "We want people to ‘go-electric’ in Rutland as we have a beautiful county and planet, and we’d rather keep it that way.

"Less fumes, cleaner fuel and protecting the climate is vital to our future and particularly that of our children, which as a school we are particularly concerned to do.

"We are a green school with an ambition to lead the way in all things including environmental projects."

Alfa Power also has a charger at The Noel in Whitwell and The Blue Cow in South Witham. It is looking at locations in Oakham, Edith Weston, Empingham and Morcott.
