Flytippers spark fury after dumping tree rubbish on Broadlands Avenue green in Bourne

Flytippers sparked anger after dumping an ugly pile of branches and tree debris on a much-loved green area in Bourne.

The culprits tipped the waste on to the local beauty spot tucked between Broadlands Avenue, Lodge Road and Waterside Close off North Road.

The illegal sprawl of green rubbish has now been cleared after a furious resident alerted the council.

The 54-year-old woman, who didn’t want to be named, said: “The pile of debris has been growing and getting worse over the last three weeks.

“It’s just out and out vandalism and I was disgusted by it.

“I’m pleased and relieved the council has been out to clean up the green.

“I’ll be keeping a close eye to make sure the flytippers don’t come back.”

She said she regularly walks her dog over to the green near her home.

“A lot of people walk their dogs over there and children play there too,” said the mum-of-two, who’s lived there 14 years.

“We’ve got a pond there and it’s a lovely spot so I was furious when somebody began dumping rowan tree branches and cuttings on to the green.

“No end of other people have mentioned this to me.

“They’ve got no right to desecrate this patch of land so popular with people and families around here.

“Flytipping any sort of rubbish is just not acceptable - these people should be forced to get rid of their waste properly like the rest of us.”

A South Kesteven District Council spokesman said: “Our Grounds Maintenance staff removed the fly-tipped green waste on the same day it was reported.

“The public can report any flytipping to us via our website southkesteven.gov.uk”
