Former A1 Travelodge at Colsterworth to be a McDonald’s restaurant
The former site of a Travelodge and Little Chef on the A1 at Colsterworth is to become a McDonald’s restaurant.
South Kesteven District Council has given permission for the restaurant which will be sited near the junction with the A151 and next to Colsterworth Services.
The former two-storey budget hotel will be demolished to make way for a one-storey restaurant and take-away, which will be open 24 hours a day. Parking for 61 cars is planned, with two further disabled parking bays on the 0.59ha site.
More than 65 part-time and full-time jobs will be created, and with the exception of senior management, ‘almost all’ will be recruited locally and staff will have the chance to gain qualifications.
A spokesman for McDonald’s said: “The site represents an appropriate location for a drive-through restaurant, which will be well-placed to offer refreshments to passing customers driving on the A1 and locals/visitors in the surrounding area.”
McDonald’s must build the restaurant within three years of the permission which was given on January 8.
