The mother of a boy born with cerebral palsy will jump out of a plane to try to reach a £15,000 target for a sensory room and hydrotherapy tub.

Elaine Anderson and her friend Jolene Giddings will take part in a skydive at Sibson Airfield on October 30.

The pair are raising money for Dayton’s Dream, which was set up to help Elaine and her husband Jamie’s son Dayton-James. The youngster, now three, was born at 28 weeks and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

They set themselves a target of £15,000 to pay for sensory room at their home in Stamford and to go towards physiotherapy equipment and a specialist hot tub to help Dayton’s muscles develop.

So far the total stands at just over £12,500. And Elaine hopes that her skydive will encourage more donations and move the total over the £15,000 target.

She said: “I hope this will be the final push.

“I am a bit nervous because I’m terrified of heights. Originally it was going to be my husband’s mum who was going to do it, but she failed her medical so we have had to jump in the seat.

“I haven’t done anything like this before; it’s completely out of my comfort zone.”

Elaine has been watching DVDs of parachute jumps to help her prepare, which she says have made her slightly less nervous.

“But my friends think I’m mad,” she added.

The couple used to live in Billingborough, before moving to Grantham and then Stamford.
