Stamford and Market Overton men take on Three Peaks challenge for Cancer Research UK, Alzheimer’s Society and MND Association
Three friends have taken on a mammoth challenge to raise funds for charities close to their hearts.
Samuel Burke from Stamford with Dan and Josh Bland from Market Overton took part in the Three Peaks challenge at the beginning of this month.
The challenge took 26 hours and eight minutes with 22 miles walked, 3,000 metres climbed, 462 miles driven and more than £1,700 raised.
Setbacks of getting lost in the dark on top of Scafell Pike and various injuries didn’t stop them from getting up and down all three mountains- Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.
They said: “We have chosen Cancer Research UK, Alzheimer’s Society and MND Association as the charities we will be donating to because they represent three illnesses that have personally affected us through our family and friends.
"With the donations we hope to receive, the total amount raised will be split into three and sent to each of the charities.”
