Funeral details for Ketton resident Stuart Gray are announced
The funeral details for an active member of a village's sports and community centre have been announced.
Stuart Gray, the vice chairman of Ketton Sports and Community Centre, died from cancer aged 68 on Saturday February 15 and his funeral will take place at All Saints' Church in Stamford on Thursday April 2, starting at 12pm.
Mr Gray was also a Peterborough United scout, a former secretary of Ketton Sports and Community Centre and used to teach PE at Stamford Fane Secondary School.
A statement on the Ketton Sports and Community Centre website read: "Stuart was heavily involved in sport in Ketton and Stamford, with connections to various local clubs, especially a number of football clubs.
"Stuart taught PE to many local people who remember him very fondly, and later worked as a football scout at various professional clubs, including Peterborough United.
"Stuart was instrumental in the running of Ketton Sports Association and also the transition to become Ketton Sports and Community Centre.
"He helped with so many fundraising efforts to allow the facility at Pit Lane to flourish.
"If anyone was ever brave or stupid enough to turn up to a Ketton Car Boot at 5am you would have likely been welcomed by Stuart along with Ronald Tilley and the rest of the early morning greeting party!
"Stuart will be sorely missed.
"Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time."
Following the funeral, there will be a private family burial then the wake at Ketton Sports and Community Centre.
Mr Gray leaves behind his wife Alison, daughters Becky and Kate and grandson Oliver.
