Latest covid figures for South Kesteven and Rutland
Five further covid deaths have been recorded in South Kesteven and Rutland.
Figures released by Public Health England yesterday (April 13), show that three new deaths were recorded in South Kesteven last week.
This brings the number of fatalities within 28 days of a positive covid test to 340 for the district.
With a significant drop of people taking tests, the infection rate stands at 489 cases per every 100,000 people.
Between April 6 and yesterday, 570 confirmed cases were recorded, while only about six per cent of the district’s population took a covid test.
In Rutland two further deaths were recorded in the past week, bringing the total throughout the pandemic to 85.
Cases in the county remain in line with the rest of the country, standing at 467 per every 100,000 people while the national average is 443.
During the past week 174 people tested positive for the virus bringing the total recorded to 11,477 - more than a quarter of the population.
Between April 6 and Tuesday (April 12, 2,688 tests were taken. This is a decrease of 27 per cent from the previous week.
