Easton-on-the-Hill village gala at the Blue Bell Pub was a success

A village gala has been labelled a success as it attracted crowds from 'far and wide'.

From a classic car and bike show, a rodeo and mass line dancing to owners parading their pets in the arena, the Easton-on-the-Hill annual gala had something for everyone.

Following months of organising, the four-day event was hosted at The Blue Bell Pub, Easton-on-the-Hill from Friday last week (August 27) until yesterday (August 30).

Tim Nicol, co-ordinator of the Easton gala committee, said: "It went very well.

"After a period of uncertainty on how many people would show up we had four days of record attendance.

"I think everybody was ready for some community celebrations in a relatively safe environment.

"It was a bit like Easton came out of its chrysalis for the weekend."

The weekend marked the first major event in the village since covid restrictions ended.

Along with the fete stalls there was a cricket match, a talent show, bands, a dog show, classic cars, maypole dancing, tug of war, singing and dancing with inflatable horses.

Tim said: "It was all supported very well across the whole four days.

"We had visitors camping locally and a lot of people from the Peterborough area.

"People travelled to see their favourite bands."

At the event more than 1,000 raffle tickets were sold which will provide funds for organisations in the village including the bowls club, the history group, the church and the horticultural society.
