GCSE results 2020: Oundle School

The headteacher of Oundle School said she very much regretted her "bright" GCSE pupils had not been able to prove themselves in written exams.

Sarah Kerr-Dineen said the thoughts of her and her staff were with all pupils and their families, many of whom are still having to come to terms with the changes to external moderation.

She said: "We sincerely regret that these bright young people were not able to have the satisfaction of proving themselves in formal examinations."

The focus from the outset had been on "deriving meaningful and realistic results for both our GCSE and A level cohorts". Results had now been validated by the examination boards and pupils deserved to be congratulated not only for their results but for their resilience and forbearance under the most unusual of circumstances, she said.

In IGCSE, pupils recorded 35 per cent grade 9, 64 per cent 9/8 and 84 per cent 9–7.

Mrs Kerr-Dineen added: “These pupils more than any deserved to have their hard work and abilities recognised fairly after a term of disruption and disappointment that was not of their making. I congratulate them all.”
