We all know road trips with the kids can be a little fraught. So why not take the stress out of summer trips and let someone else get behind the wheel?

A coach trip is a fantastic way to visit some of the country’s top attractions. There’s plenty of storage on board for the buggy, the picnic and all the bits and pieces you need for a family day out. Most coaches have onboard toilets too.

Even the journey itself can be an adventure for young children, with a great view and new friends to be made onboard.

We teamed up with Shaws of Maxey www.shawscoaches.co.uk to round up some of the best summer coach trips your kids won’t want to miss.

Seaside Specials

Fancy a stroll along the promenade? Seaside Specials take you and the family for a day of fun in the sun throughout July and August.

Destinations include Sheringham on July 24, Scarborough on July 31 and August 28, Skegness on August 14 and 24 and Cromer on August 15.

Wild at Whipsnade

On July 27, why not take the family to the UK’s biggest zoo, home to more than 3,000 animals, housed in spacious outdoor enclosures.

Head to Wild Wild Whipsnade to see bears, lynx and reindeer, visit the big cats in the Lions of Serengeti or meet the chimps in the Chimpanasium.

Tigers by the Sea

The Lincolnshire Wildlife Park at Friskney is home to an amazing array of animals including 11 Bengal tigers, a majestic black panther, gorgeous ring-tailed lemurs and hilarious meerkats.

Meet them all on July 30 before continuing to Skegness to round off the day.

Snettisham Farm Park and Hunstanton

This super-value family outing on August 9 not only gives children the chance to meet farm animals, it also includes a deer safari.

During the 45-minute trip you’ll meet and hand-feed the spectacular herd of red deer before rounding off the day with a couple of hours by the sea at nearby Hunstanton.

The Harry Potter Experience

On August 13, go behind-the-scenes of the Harry Potter films, at the studios where it all began.

Get a close-up look at thousands of intricate and beautifully-made props, costumes and special effects – a magical treat for all ages.

Woburn Safari Park

On August 17, a trip to Woburn includes a drive through the animal enclosures with a ranger on board to tell you about all the animals.

Later meet lots of other creatures in the Close Encounters ‘foot safari’ section of the park.

When it comes to family coach trips Shaws of Maxey www.shawscoaches.co.uk are the experts.

Children are welcome to sit in the driver’s seat for a picture and have a go on the microphone – but only when the bus is stationary, of course!

Activity sheets, ideas and crayons are available onboard, drivers are happy to do special birthday shout outs and you can rest assured that you’ll all be sitting together.

Shaws of Maxey www.shawscoaches.co.uk is a multi-award-winning company and claimed the prize for the Day Excursion Programme of the Year 2018 at the British Coach Tourism Awards in March.
