Stamford show was a 'Spooktacular' success
Hundreds enjoyed the Stamford Spooktacular on Stamford’s Recreation Ground on Sunday.
The popular event was organised by Coun Maxine Couch, the council’s events chairman and Nicola Sandall of the Friends of Stamford and Rutland Theatre.
It was supported by the council events team and councillors, plus local actors and friends dressed in costumes to entertain the children.
They included Stamford Showstoppers, Stamford Pantomime Players, Ink Contemporary Theatre, The Phoenix Belles Burlesque and the College Players.
Events included an interactive quiz and a witchy corner with broomstick races.
Displays included a ‘devilish bandstand’ along with phantoms, Bride of Frankenstein and purple Minions.
Nicola led the fun with scary music and theatre performers danced to music and performed flash mobs.
Darren Rawnsley entertained the children with some scary stories and a Halloween card game.
Stamford Town Council had a large tent and ran the Pumpkin competition, which was won by Kacey Garratt, eight.
A fancy dress competition was won by Wren Bradford, eight, and the overall fancy dress winner who is to turn on the Christmas lights is Daniel Mason, nine.
Coun Crouch said a couple of hundred people turned up and the event was a success, which the council will stage again next year.
“All in all, there was lots for the children and family to do and everyone enjoyed the Spooktacular.
“The sun came out and it was lovely just to be out in the sunshine with good music, family fun and lots of smiles for the children.
"There was lots of smiles from the children. We look forward to seeing everyone next year for more fun.”
