Giant book sale proves blooming popular

A giant book sale held from Friday to Sunday at the Victoria Hall in Oakham raised nearly £600 for Oakham in Bloom.

Hundreds of books were collected by volunteers ahead of the sale, as well as CDs and organiser Joyce Lucas said a huge thank you to those who bought or donated.

She said there were visitors from far and wide and hundreds of books sold.

Joyce added: "This money will go a long way to buying new plants for the winter bedding schemes and their on-going costs of watering and maintaining all existing plants."

The few remaining books will be collected and distributed by a charity to undeveloped countries of the world.
