Apple sale to be held at Bourne community orchard despite cancellation of Apple Day

Fruit-lovers are in for a treat this month with dozens of delicious apples up for grabs from the community orchard in Bourne.

The annual Apple Day has had to be cancelled but Friends of Bourne Wood are still pressing ahead with plans for a stall.

It will take place on Sunday, October 11, from 10am until 2.30pm at the orchard off Beech Avenue.

Sarah Roberts, secretary of Friends of Bourne Wood, said: “Apples from our trees will be available for a suggested donation of 50p per punnet. The Bourne Woods Booklet will also be available at £3. This will be our main fundraiser for this year!

“We will be complying with social distancing rules and hand sanitiser will be available on entry to keep visitors and our volunteers safe. Bringing the correct change will be appreciated and any fruit can be tipped into your own bag.
