Stamford Town Council thanks community groups for their efforts during the pandemic

Community groups have been rewarded for their efforts during the pandemic.

Stamford Town Council hosted a celebratory event at the town hall on Sunday.

Deputy mayor David Taylor said: “For me, and I know for the mayor, one of the things which makes Stamford so special is it’s amazing community spirit.

“It is demonstrated by all these organisations and individuals who give so much of their time to serve our town’s residents.

“Some groups commit their time and efforts to keeping the town looking at it’s best. Others look after the elderly, the vulnerable and the sick whilst some look out for those faced with prejudice and discrimination.

“Whatever the cause, whatever roles our support groups have, we are proud of them and hugely grateful for all they do.”

Certificates were presented to representatives from:

The deputy mayor also acknowledged the Stamford Mercury team for continuing to publish a newspaper every week during the pandemic and the town’s churches for supporting their congregations with online services.
