Sainsbury's supports MindSpace Stamford
Mental health projects are gathering support from businesses and individuals who want to improve the lives of others.
MindSpace Stamford wants to create a community garden on an allotment site in Uffington Road.
Staff from Sainbury's in Stamford have volunteered to help as part of the company's 150th anniversary celebrations.
The company is carrying out 150 days of volunteering across the country and the Stamford team have offered to help with preparation work at the garden site.
Store manager Matthew Nicholls said: “We’re really excited to be helping a local cause so close to our hearts – it’s a great way for our colleagues to come together and support the community.
"It’s so important for us to give back to our local community and what better time than in our 150th year.”
The founder of Mindspace Stamford, Dr Dan Petrie, said: “We’re very touched by the commitment from Sainsbury’s Stamford to the Community Garden project.
"Having colleagues volunteer with us will really make a difference and we appreciate the time given to such an important cause.”
The charity has also received support from boxing coach Marc Stanier who ran the Derby half marathon to raise money for the project.
Marc, of Impact Boxing Fitness, said: “I’m really overwhelmed by the scale of support. My entry was literally last minute so I had less than 48 hours to get sponsorship.
"It is a pleasure to support the charity as they have such a positive effect on the local community."
Marc runs free boxing sessions for MindSpace twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at West Street, Stamford.
