The Valhalla Project gym in Essendine to hold a strongman competition at Bourne Rugby Club
The Valhalla Project gym in Essendine is holding its first strongman event at Bourne Rugby Club.
There are currently 65 competitors enrolled, some travelling as far as from Guernsey.
Nicola Laughton, co-owner of Valhalla gym, said: "My business partner Daniel has always been into strongman events so just after we opened the gym we decided we would hold one.
"We organised it to be it to be quite low-key but it grew more and more."
The event was originally going to be held at The Valhalla Project in Essendine but has been moved to the larger venue of Bourne Rugby Club to accommodate the large number of participants.
There will be four categories - novice men, intermediate men, open men and open women - with five different events to judge who is Valhalla’s strongest man and woman.
Judges of the competition include Scotland's strongest man Tom Stoltman, the voice of strongman events Martin Cee and strongman competitor Rob Frampton.
The top three competitors in each category will win cash prizes, bespoke trophies and supplements.
All Purpose Nutrition (APN), will be offering free drinks to all of the competitors throughout the day.
On the day, there will be fun family activities, hot food and drinks and bouncy castles.
There will also be a Thor hammer hold - meaning all people attending can have a go and challenge each other - with the longest time on the day winning a prize.
Nicola said: "I'm excited, a little apprehensive as it's our first event and I want it to go down really well."
Places are still available for the event which will take place on Saturday (November 16) at 9am.
There is a £25 entry fee per competitor which can be paid to the Valhalla project via PayPal (valhallaprojectmma@gmail.com).
