Hambleton Bakery looks to build new bakery at Ram Jam Inn site off A1 near Stamford
Hambleton Bakery is looking to expand by building a new bakery at the Ram Jam Inn site off the A1 north of Stamford.
The planning application it has submitted to Rutland County Council includes a proposal to accommodate a larger shop, visitor centre and café at the existing bakery site in Exton.
Tim Hart, who founded Hambleton Bakery with head baker Julian Carter in November 2008, said: “Julian needs more production space and I feel that it would be a pity to build too much more on our beautiful Exton site.
“It makes sense therefore to use our Ram Jam site adjacent to the A1 to expand our production capacity.
“Customers visiting the Exton site will be able to try our products on site in the new café.”
The application, which would enable Hambleton Bakery to double its production, will be decided by Rutland County Council.
Meanwhile, Hambleton Bakery recently attended the National Bakery Awards event in London, hosted by Bakery Business Magazine in their first-ever national awards ceremony.
Hambleton Bakery collected the award for Best Bakery in Rutland and Best Bakery in the East Midlands.
Delighted with the recognition, Tim explained they impressed the judges by using no additives, slow-fermentation traditional methods and local ingredients.
“The awards mean a great deal to all of us at Hambleton Bakery,” he added. “They crown 10 years of effort and ambition to be recognised as the best in our region."
