Gallery: Children In Need supporters across Stamford, Rutland and Bourne play their part in helping the appeal reach a record-breaking £50.6 million
Children In Need’s 2018 appeal attracted huge support across the area.
Staff at The Yard Soft Play Centre dressed up and served Pudsey cupcakes, raising £50.
Co-owner Aimee Swift said: “We always like to support Children in Need. As a business working with children it fits well with our ethos.”
Oakham’s very own Mr Bean lookalike Dean Hibbitt thought he would use his famous-looking face to raise money so parked up in Market Place with his new mini.
He said: “I raised £430 in just four hours which is great for such a small town. Everyone was very kind bringing me cups of coffee to keep me warm.”
Staff and sixth form pupils from Bourne Academy dressed as their favourite characters while the rest of the school took part in a non-uniform day.
They also enjoyed an extended lunchtime with stalls, face painting, games, soak the teacher and a karaoke competition which was won by year 12 pupil Tabby Geris.
School spokesman Gemma Wrigley said: “It was another successful charity event which raised £2,314. Well done to everyone involved.”
Youngsters from Barnack Preschool went on a Hey Duggee treasure hunt, made spotty crowns and decorated biscuits. They raised £26.50
Practice manager Kirsty Adams said: “We had a lovely morning doing lots of fun activities. Some of the children had their faces painted and they all enjoyed collecting the Hey Duggee characters in the garden.”
School councillors at St George’s Primary School in Stamford chose to host a pyjama day and cake sale, raising more than £300. A school spokesman said: “Our hall was full of delicious cakes baked by parents and pupils alike and the sale was very well attended.”
A jumble sale was hosted at Harringworth village hall on Saturday. Marie Hems has hosted the sale every year since since her children were young and wanted to support the cause.
Children In Need money goes to projects across the country including Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People which was part of the BBC programme on Friday night. It has received funding since 2008.
