Anyone suffering from hearing loss can still enjoy a good quality of life by having the right hearing aid fitted.

That was the message conveyed at Wednesday’s grand opening of Healthy Hearing’s new branch in Red Lion Square, Stamford.

The event was attended by BBC Radio 2 DJ and Healthy Hearing ambassador Johnnie Walker who cut the ribbon to the new store.

Healthy Hearing managing director Mike Stanley said they had taken the decision to move from their old premises in Cliff Road to the High Street after noticing a shift in shopping patterns.

“We’ve been in Stamford for nearly 20 years and, after noticing that our other branches located in high streets were getting more walk in customers, we decided to move,” he said.

“The new shop is in a great location and has great frontage.”

Mike said there was still plenty of free parking in the area and they remained accessible to anyone wanting to use their services.

“We offer the exact same services as we did previously,” he said.

“No one in Stamford does what we do in giving such a comprehensive consultation.”

He said getting fitted with the right hearing aid could have a major positive impact on the life of a person suffering from hearing loss.

Johnnie Walker, who lost his hearing 15 years ago after taking “life-saving antibiotics” agreed and said he wanted to change the perception that it was “embarrassing” to wear hearing aids.

“They are so discreet but make a huge difference to your life,” he said.

“Before I was fitted with a hearing aid I was feeling increasingly isolated in social situations and was struggling to hear people on the radio, TV and in pubs. You just can’t join in.

“(Hearing aids) have made a huge difference in my life and I can now hear people again, bird song and TV sound.”

The new Healthy Hearing branch is located at 1 Red Lion Square.
