A woman who serves the community as a police officer is preparing to take on her biggest challenge yet.

Helen Morris, 44, is currently undertaking a gruelling training regime to prepare herself for her latest challenge the London Marathon.

Police officer Helen, started running four years ago with local running club the Stamford Striders and has always wanted to run the London Marathon.

After applying for many years, Helen finally got lucky and has been given a place for the 2015 London Marathon taking place on April 26.

Helen will be running for a cause close to her heart The British Heart Foundation. She said: “It’s amazing what they do as a charity, it really does mean a lot to me as I’ve lost several family members to heart disease. Without the money raised through charities I wouldn’t have my father here today.”

Helen has already started training for the big race, running up to five times a week, ranging in short sprints to long distance running and working out at the gym.

Helen, who has been a police officer in Stamford for the past seven years, is looking forward to the challenge.

She said: “It’s an amazing course but a really tough challenge.”

She hopes that the local community will get behind her and help to raise the minimum target of £2,000 for The British Heart Foundation.

Helen has already received a number of generous donations from her family and friends, reaching the halfway mark of her minimum target.

She said: “A lot of people experience family members with heart problems, so it’s a worthwhile cause to help. I want to raise as much money as I can for the charity.”
