Family launch a fundraising appeal and seek a house swap from Thurlby to Stamford to support Ady Ormes following his cancer diagnosis
A family has launched an appeal for help following a devastating cancer diagnosis.
Ady Orme was initially told by doctors that his shoulder pain was likely to be caused by muscle problems.
Two weeks later he was admitted to hospital and after a series of tests was given the news that he has lung cancer.
It has spread to his liver and brain, meaning Ady may only have months to live.
His partner Sandra Wade and their children have rallied to help as best they can, but Covid-19 restrictions are making it difficult.
They have launched a fundraising appeal to ease the financial pressure and are desperately seeking a council house swap so the couple can move from Thurlby to be closer to family in Stamford.
His daughter Jessica Wade said: "The diagnosis was such a shock. Dad has never been ill before but has deteriorated so quickly.
"We couldn't visit him in hospital which was hard and Mum had to receive the news over the phone."
Ady, 52, works as an assistant manager at Exhausts Unlimited in Stamford.
Sandra is currently taking time off from her job at Sainsbury's but is due to return next month. She is also waiting for a date to have knee surgery.
The fundraising appeal has already raised more than £3,000 which will help pay the bills while Sandra is off work.
The family would also like to create some lasting memories.
Jessica said: "This could be Dad's last Christmas. He is starting radiotherapy to help with the pain and we hope he will be able to do a bit more. It would be nice to have one last day out with the family."
A house swap would allow Jessica and siblings Jamie, Holly and Chloe to be closer to their dad.
