Work begins as Norfolk-based company Fairfax and Favor prepares to open store in Stamford High Street
A shop selling shoes fit for a royal is preparing to open its doors in Stamford.
In less than a decade, Fairfax and Favor has grown into a multi-award-winning company, and keen to continue to expand, it hopes to win over lovers of town and country with its new store in the High Street.
Set up by Marcus Fairfax Fountaine and Felix Favor in 2013, the two friends, who at the time were 18, were keen to have their own business.
After dabbling in bouncy castle experiences to gun slips, the pair settled on the winning idea of selling handcrafted shoes and boots.
Primarily an online retailer, Fairfax and Favor opened its first store in Holt, north Norfolk, in April and the Stamford store, which is set to open at the end of November, will only be the brand's second shop.
Discussing why the market town was selected as the location for the second store, Felix said: "Stamford has got Burghley Horse trials, which is one of the best shows.
"There's so much to do in Stamford, you've got The George, clothes shops, restaurants."
He added: "We are very excited to be opening in Stamford. Building works have started."
It will be a soft launch for the Stamford store at the end of November with a VIP event planned for the beginning of December, before the shop reaps the benefits of the Christmas shopping period.
Since announcing plans for the new store, the pair have been inundated with messages from customers keen to shop there.
"I think customers are delighted," said Felix.
"We are a good brand for people trying to get Christmas presents, hopefully it will make a lot of people happy for Christmas."
In recent years a number of celebrities have been spotted in Fairfax and Favor from Made in Chelsea reality star Josh Patterson, broadcaster Clare Balding and Game of Thrones star Kit Harington, to British eventers such as Piggy French and Pippa Funnell. Royals have also been spotted donning the boots.
The Norfolk-based company has won a number of awards including Best New Footwear Product of the Year at the Shooting Awards 2017 and Best Luxury Brand of The Year at the 2019 Direct Commerce Awards.
