Thorpe Hall Hospice in Peterborough reopens to new admissions




A hospice which provides palliative care to patients from Stamford, Bourne and The Deepings is now able to accept new admissions.

The staff at Thorpe Hall Hospice in Peterborough had been forced to close to new patients as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

But on Wednesday last week, the hospice was able to reopen its doors.

A spokesman said: "The inpatient unit at Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice had been temporarily closed to new admissions.

"After careful and thorough assessment in partnership with Public Health England, the inpatient unit re-opened to new admissions from Wednesday,May 20.

"We will be continuing to enforce all necessary infection control measures and we would like to thank you all for your understanding and support over the last few weeks."

The hospice has seen an increase in demand for its bereavement services during the last few weeks as people struggle during lockdown.
