Breast Cancer Care UK set to benefit from Lewis Trickey from Langtoft's wing walk

A doting husband who was banned from skydiving has found a new way to support the medics who saved his wife.

Lewis Trickey wanted to do a parachute jump to raise money for the breast cancer unit at Peterborough City Hospital after they treated his wife Jane.

Unfortunately his own doctor put a stop to the plans because Lewis himself had undergone hip surgery.

The 64-year-old said: "My consultant advised against it so I am doing something much more sedate and appropriate to an old guy with a metal hip - a wing walk.

"I did think about getting my hair cut off, but Jane said that at my age it might not grow back again!"

Lewis, of Manor Close, Langtoft, will travel to an airfield in Cirencester on July 26 for his wing walk.

He will be supported by Jane, their daughters Clare and Joanne and four grandchildren.

He said: "I don't mind heights but I think this will be one hell of an experience I won't want to repeat."

Lewis, a driving instructor and former RSPCA inspector, has paid for the stunt himself so all donations will be split between Breast Cancer Care UK and the hospital unit in Peterborough/

He said: "Through the fantastic care Jane received at Peterborough hospital she was given the all clear. To say we are grateful is an understatement.

"We would like to give something back so these organisations can continue to support not only those with cancer but their families too.

"Unfortunately we all might need these fantastic people at some point in our lives."
