Fusion 3 Fitness in Cherryholt Road, Stamford issues advice on keeping fit in lockdown

Good nutrition, 10,000 steps a day and body exercises are the key to staying healthy from home according to a gym owner.

When the lockdown was introduced on November 5, gyms were among the businesses which had to close.

Members and staff at Fusion 3 Fitness in Cherryholt Road, Stamford shared their disappointment that they wouldn’t be able to attend the gym.

Daniel Gilbert, who co-owns the gym with Liam Tate and Andy Thomas, was ‘gutted’ after hearing they had to close.

He said: “It’s not good for the industry or the people who attend gyms.

“It’s not just fitness, it’s the mental health and wellbeing.

“A lot of people really need it for health and a social life.

“We have a pretty strong membership - lots of groups of friends training.”

Daniel has a number of suggestions to help people to continue to be active despite gyms still being closed.

He said: “I think first and foremost there should be a target of 10,000 steps a day.

“Obviously if you’re not as active as usual, nutrition plays a big part - eating healthy simple food.”

Daniel also suggest doing ‘simple body exercises’ at home or in the garden.

There include squats, lunges, push-ups and planks which can all be done without any gym equipment.

Despite the encouragement for home exercise, the owners of Fusion 3 look forward to welcoming members back as soon as possible.

Daniel said: “It’s never great for any business having to close.

“We are lucky we have a strong membership and a lot of people have continued to pay their membership.

“We are massively appreciative and grateful.

“As a business we will survive.”
