Latest figures show hundreds upload driving footage to Lincolnshire Police as part of Operation Snap
The number of driving complaints reported to Lincolnshire Police continues to rise.
Latest figures reveal that a total of 687 incidents were uploaded in the three-month period between July and September to Operation Snap – an online portal where the public can share dashcam or video footage of suspected offences.
This is an increase on the 655 driving incidents uploaded reported between April and June of this year, accounting for 33% of the 2,110 incidents reported in that 12-month period.
A total of 455 submissions were made between January and March and 313 between October and December last year.
Of the 687 incidents, 170 led to police warnings and 205 were offences dealt with by the police. No further action was taken on 294 incidents.
A breakdown of the offences show 78 were failing to comply with traffic light signals, almost double the 47 reports made in both the first two quarters of 2023.
There were 40 reports of driving without reasonable care or attention, down a third, and 37 incidents of driving without due care and attention, down from 49 in the second quarter.
There are nine counts of drivers using a handheld mobile phones.
Other offences processed were: driving with a vehicle not under proper control 3, failing to comply with a traffic sign 2, driving in a manner which could cause danger to passengers 2, overtaking within pedestrian crossing limits 1.
Forty-four of the reports processed by the police led to perpetrators attending an educational course, 15 were dealt with by way of a fixed penalty notice of a£100 fine and three penalty points and 13 were fixed penalty fines.
Seven were dealt with by a caution and five offences were cancelled. At present, 121 of the offences are awaiting finalisation.
