Belton House Care Home in Rutland to be shut down by Care Quality Commission
A care home found to be unsafe is being shut down.
Belton House Care Home was put into special measures last year after an inspection in August found its services to be unsafe and ineffective.
At the time it was given a year to turn things around before the Care Quality Commission (CQC) considered further action.
A new manager and consultant were employed to address the issues which included the home in Littleworth Lane not being safe, effective or well-led.
However, following two inspection visits in the past six months, the CQC has confirmed it's taking steps to close down the home due to concerns raised and a lack of improvement.
The care home, which is run by Kross Investments Limited, will close on April 23.
Rutland County Council is working to put alternative care arrangements in place for the 13 residents who will be affected by the closure.
Kim Sorsky, strategic director for adults and health at Rutland County Council, said: “We’ve acted quickly following confirmation from the CQC that Belton House Retirement Home is to be de-registered.
"We are in contact with the home’s residents and their families, to provide support and reassurance.
"We monitor care home capacity throughout Rutland and are confident of finding alternative placements for all affected residents.”
