Environment Agency and Rutland County Council investigating after dead fish discovered in Ketton




The Environment Agency is investigating after a number of dead fish were discovered.

A report was made to Rutland County Council and the Environment Agency last week that a pond had been drained in Pit Lane, Ketton.

On the bed of the pond were dozens of dead fish.

An Environment Agency spokesperson said that its specialist officers are investigating and are in talks with pollution control.

The council added that it is working with the Environment Agency to 'establish exactly what has happened at the site and to assess any impact on the local environment'.

Dead fish or fish gasping for breath at the surface should be reported to the Environment Agency immediately via a 24-hour incident hotline 0800 807060.
