Invitation to join patient group at Oakham Medical Practice
A health centre has relaunched a patient group to give people the chance to have their say on care.
Oakham Medical Practice partner Dr Rysz Bietzk and business manager Ian Razzell have reintroduced the patient participation group after detailed meetings and planning.
The group has membership of the National Association for Patient Participation and a patient-led committee called patient voice.
Mr Razzell said: “The patient participation group committee and steering group, chaired by patient and academic Dr John Harry, are working very hard on a range of issues in preparation for the quarterly meetings, the most recent of which was held on July 16.
“These activities are focussed on patients, but specifically how current primary care and future plans impact on the local community.”
One of the current tasks of the group is to oversee the practice’s response to an “enter and view” report by Healthwatch Rutland, released in July. The watchdog reported high levels of patient satisfaction but found some issues with booking appointments by phone, privacy and signage for disabled facilities.
Mr Razzell said: “The practice is now addressing the small number of points raised, under the critical (but friendly) eye of the Oakham patient participation group.”
The practice has invited people to join the group and take an active interest in care in Oakham. The next meeting will take place at Rutland Memorial Hospital from 7pm on October 13. Call 01572 725850 to find out more.
