Learn to Restart a Heart at Stamford demonstration
People in Stamford and the surrounding area are being offered a chance to learn how to help someone who has gone into cardiac arrest as first aid charity St John Ambulance brings life saving skills to the public as part of the 2018 Restart A Heart campaign.
Working with the Resuscitation Council and other partners, St John Ambulance volunteers are arranging demonstrations around the country to mark Restart A Heart Day which falls on October 16
In Stamford, local volunteers will be providing demonstrations on Sunday (October 14) at the ACF Cadet Hut on West Street, from 1pm onwards.
These sessions, which last an hour, are free to attend and will include practical information on how to deliver Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and deliver shocks to the heart with a defibrillator.
Maria Redwood, Manager of St John Ambulance’s Stamford unit, said: “A cardiac arrest can happen at any time and without warning so we’re looking forward to sharing knowledge of first aid techniques so that more people can step forward when confronted with a heart-related emergency, making communities safer. Come and see us at our Restart A Heart event and we’ll show you what to do in a cardiac arrest situation and how to use first aid combined with a defibrillator to improve someone’s chances of survival.”
