Lent Fair returns to Uppingham market place for first time since pre-covid days
The spills and thrills of the funfair hit town again this week as a traditional event returned for the first time since 2019.
Uppingham's Lent Fair switched on its lights in market place on Tuesday, making up for lost time after covid cancelled the last two years.
The annual fair is protected by Royal Charter, believed to go back several centuries, and has been organised and run by Holland Amusements for more than 100 years.
It runs until Saturday.
"If my grandchildren and their friends are a guide to its arrival, it's all they are talking about," said Mayor of Uppingham, Steve Rodak.
"We should see a gradual pick up, and it will be at its busiest on Thursday and Friday."
