Information about self care, diet, physical activities, footcare and support was made available to those in attendance.

There was also a chance to ask questions and to meet others with diabetes.

The programme included a talk by Dr Jonathan Roland about treatments for diabetes and choosing one that suits you, finding a diet that meets your needs by dietitian Jo Campbell, physical activity as part of your self-management by Ryan Marrow and sleep and the impact on diabetes on you by Prof Graham Law from Lincoln University.

“It was a great success and we had people attend from as far as Spalding,” said one of the organisers, Harrish Bisnauthsing.

"Everything went well and it was very informative.

"Most of the people that came have type 2 diabetes.

"The feedback was good and the people I spoke to said they wanted more events like this."
