Uppingham movement specialist and YouTuber releases book

A former barrister has released a book inspired by movement and lockdown.

Stewart Hamblin, from Uppingham, has released a book designed to help people stay fit and independent.

The book, 'The Fit Sit Revolution’, details lessons based on the Feldenkrais Method of movement education which relies on re-training the brain to organise movement in gravity.

Stewart, a fully certified practitioner, said: “I think we all have people in our lives that we love and care for whose movement has become compromised and whom we want to help but often we just don’t know how.

“Telling your mum or dad to go the gym doesn’t really work and for some, because of the lockdown, that simply hasn’t been possible."

Stewart, who also has a YouTube channel, gave up his law career and re-trained as a movement specialist after an injury in his 30s severely impacted his movement.

“I am 58 now and move better than I have ever done thanks to the methods used in this book and before lockdown I was teaching all over the world.

"By changing the way a person thinks about movement you can change the way that they actually move and as a result the changes can be very quick in coming," he said.

“The problem though for many is not that they are getting older but that they have forgotten how they can move.”

Stewart added: “My oldest student was 105 and I have seen how a person’s movement can be changed just by changing the way that they think about their movement.

"I want everybody to live the life that they want to as they age but this depends on your ability to move well. This book will help you to do that.

"It’s a book born in the lockdown for people in lockdown.”

Stewart also teaches a number of classes at the Rutland Physiotherapy Clinic in Burley Rd, Oakham.

'The Fit Sit Revolution’ is available now as a Kindle e-book or in paperback through Amazon.
